Hi I Am Kandis.

I’m just a bad-ass, strong willed girl…trying to figure out who the hell I am here.

I am living authentically in every way. Some people can’t deal with it. I say love me anyway.

Thief of Joy

Thief of Joy

We live in a world that often feels like a stage, with everyone displaying their achievements, adventures, and aspirations. It’s so easy to get caught up in comparing our lives to others—our skills, our possessions, our achievements. I’ve been there, measuring my worth against a world that feels constantly in motion, filled with people seemingly leaping ahead. Sometimes, in those comparisons, I’d feel accomplished, as if I had “won” some invisible race. But that feeling was always fleeting, and what followed was usually a sense of emptiness, as if something crucial was still missing.

It took me a while, but I’ve come to realize that greatness isn’t about being ahead of others; it’s about being true to myself. Measuring myself against others’ lives left me drained, as if I was always one step behind someone else’s finish line. But when I stopped looking outward and started looking inward, something beautiful began to happen—I felt free.

This freedom looks different every day. Some days, it’s about chasing big dreams or tackling the goals that set my soul on fire. Other days, success is simply taking time to care for myself, to breathe, to appreciate the little things. Every step I take, no matter how small, is part of my unique journey. And, in that acceptance, I find a quiet joy that comparison could never offer.

Letting go of comparison has opened my eyes to the beauty of our differences. When I stopped seeing others as benchmarks, I started seeing them as inspirations, as people who could teach me something new, something I might not have found within myself. Instead of competing, I began to celebrate them, to find joy in the diversity that makes us each unique.

For anyone who might be caught up in comparisons, my advice is this: try focusing on your own path, one step at a time. Recognize your unique strengths, even the quiet ones, and know that they are enough. Trust that your journey, however different it may look, is yours alone to walk, and that’s where your real power lies.

Joy isn’t about being better than someone else; it’s about becoming the truest, most authentic version of yourself. Embrace that, and you’ll find a strength that no comparison could ever give you.
